A Customer Retention App for Flooring Installers and Retailers

We build a flooring company customer retention app that keeps past customers connected through product care reminders, warranty records and a simple way to request stairs, the next room or a hardwood recoat.

01

What Happens After the Install Today, and Where Customers Drift Away

For most flooring companies, the relationship ends with the final invoice. The crew leaves a care sheet on the counter, maybe a few spare planks in the garage, and the customer hears from you again only if something goes wrong. The marketing team sends a general newsletter to everyone, regardless of whether they bought carpet or site finished oak.

That gap costs repeat business. Customers who did the main floor often plan the stairs, the upstairs bedrooms or the basement later, and when that time comes they search again instead of calling the company that did the first job. Matching the original product, color and lot becomes harder the longer they wait.

Warranty handling also slips. Many manufacturers ask owners to register their purchase and follow specific care steps, and few customers do either. When a claim comes up, the paperwork is missing on both sides.

02

How Flooring Buyers Choose, and Why That Shapes Retention

Flooring buyers typically visit a showroom or two, take samples home, compare quotes and read reviews. The decision feels high stakes because floors are visible in every room and hard to undo. Once a customer trusts an installer, they rarely want to start that process over.

That trust is the asset a retention app protects. If the app holds the exact product, color and room record, booking the next room is easier than shopping again. And because buyers lean on reviews and word of mouth, a well timed prompt for a review or referral after the floor has settled carries real weight.

The app should also make the original decision feel right. Care tips that keep the floor looking new reinforce that the customer chose well, which is what turns them into a referral source.

03

Privacy, Messaging Consent and Warranty Accuracy

Text reminders require clear consent under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and promotional emails need CAN-SPAM compliant unsubscribe links. Push notifications need device permission, and app store privacy labels must describe what the app collects.

Warranty content is the area to handle carefully. The app should present each manufacturer's own care and warranty terms rather than paraphrase them, and link to the manufacturer's registration page. Telling a customer a cleaning product is safe when the manufacturer says otherwise could void their coverage.

Keep personal data minimal: contact details, address, the products installed and message preferences. Payment information does not belong in a retention app.

  • Logged opt-in for texts and email
  • Manufacturer warranty terms shown as published
  • Links to official warranty registration pages
  • No payment data stored

Information and Access Your Team Will Supply

We need records of past installs with product line, color, lot number where available, rooms and install date. Most of this lives in your order system, so access or exports from it are the starting point.

We also need care content for each category you sell, such as hardwood, laminate, LVP, tile and carpet, plus the services you want to offer past customers, like screen and recoat, carpet stretching, grout sealing or stair upgrades. Referral terms, review links and brand assets complete the list.

If records for older jobs are incomplete, we can launch with what exists and let customers fill in gaps themselves, for example by snapping a photo of the leftover carton label in the garage. That one photo often carries the product name and lot your sales team needs.

  • Install records with product, color and lot
  • Care content by flooring category
  • Service menu for past customers
  • Review and referral links
05

Getting Customers to Install It and Your Team to Promote It

The best moment is the end of install day, when the lead installer walks the customer through the new floor. A card with a QR code and a line about storing their product details and warranty in one place gives a reason to download right then.

Salespeople should mention it at the showroom too, since it answers a common worry: what happens if I need to match this floor later? For past customers, a single invitation that explains their floor record is waiting is usually enough.

Inside the company, give installers and salespeople a simple reason to care. When a repeat order traces back to a customer they set up in the app, share it in the team meeting. People promote tools that visibly bring work back to them.

06

Measuring Whether the Flooring Company Customer Retention App Pays Off

Track repeat orders from past customers, especially follow-on rooms and stairs, and compare a period before launch with one after. Watch how many of those came through the in-app request button.

Count booked add-on services, such as recoats and grout sealing, which are often low cost to sell and fill gaps in the install calendar. Measure referrals tracked through app links and new reviews posted after the review prompt. Finally, look at uninstall rates; if they rise after a promotion, dial back frequency.

Pair these numbers with a simple monthly review between marketing and sales, so content that leads to booked work gets repeated and messages that cause uninstalls get retired.

FAQ

Questions we hear

Still curious? Call +1 254 323 2698 or write to info@sizgroup.com.

How does a flooring company customer retention app differ from email marketing?+

Email goes to everyone. The app knows each customer's exact floor, so reminders and offers match their product and rooms, and requesting more work takes one tap.

Can we track lot numbers for future matching?+

Yes, if your order system records them. We store the lot with the install record so sales can check availability when the customer asks for more.

Will customers find reminders annoying?+

Not if they are useful and infrequent. We usually plan a handful a year tied to seasons and product care, and you can adjust from the admin dashboard.

What does it cost?+

Mobile apps with SIZ Group start at $4,500. Integrations with your order system and content volume set the final price, confirmed in writing before the build.

Can it ask for reviews?+

Yes. A prompt can go out once the floor has been lived on for a while, linking to the review site you choose. Timing it after the first few weeks of living on the floor tends to produce more detailed reviews.
