Overview

A game is a loop first and an app second

SIZ Group is a game app development company based in Austin, Texas. Since 2018 our teams have designed and developed 678 apps, and we bring that product discipline to games, where the rules are different from any booking or shopping app. A utility app succeeds when people finish a task quickly. A game succeeds when people choose to come back tomorrow.

That changes how we plan. Before we talk about screens, we map the core loop: what the player does in thirty seconds, what they earn for doing it, and what they spend it on. Then we map the session loop and the long term loop that gives a reason to return next week. If those three loops are weak, no amount of art or marketing will save the retention curve.

We work with founders who have a game concept, with brands that want a playable campaign, and with small studios that need extra engineering for mobile ports, monetization or live operations. If you need a general business app instead, our main mobile app development team is a better fit.

What we deliver

Mobile game development services

Each service below can be bought on its own or combined into a full production.

01

Prototype and vertical slice

We build a graybox prototype that proves the core mechanic is fun before money goes into art. A vertical slice then shows one polished level with final quality visuals, audio and UI so you can test with players or pitch to investors.

02

Full game production in Unity or Unreal

Our Unity game developers handle 2D and 3D casual, puzzle, idle, sports and simulation titles. For higher fidelity 3D we use Unreal Engine and plan the device floor early, because a game that runs well on a current flagship can stutter on a three year old Android phone.

03

Monetization design and integration

We implement in-app purchases, rewarded and interstitial ads, subscriptions and battle pass style season tracks. The economy is modeled in a spreadsheet first so that prices, rewards and ad frequency are tuned on purpose rather than guessed.

04

Live ops and content pipelines

Remote config, timed events, daily rewards and server driven offers let you change the game without shipping a new build through review. We set up the tooling so your team can schedule an event without calling a developer.

05

AR and multiplayer features

We add ARKit and ARCore experiences, turn based and real-time multiplayer, leaderboards and friend challenges. Multiplayer is scoped carefully, since netcode, matchmaking and cheat prevention can double a budget.

06

Porting and optimization

We port existing games between iOS and Android, upgrade old Unity versions, cut install size and fix frame drops, overheating and memory crashes. We profile on real low end and high end devices, not only the simulator.

Why SIZ Group

Why choose SIZ Group as your game app development company

Mobile games fail in predictable places: a fun mechanic with no economy, an economy that feels greedy, or a launch with no plan for week two. We plan for all three from the first workshop, and we tell you early when a feature costs more than it will earn.

We hire only the top 4% of developer applicants, and our team brings more than 10 years of collective experience. Apps we have built for clients have passed 10 million downloads, so we understand store review, crash reporting and scaling a backend under real traffic.

Talk to us
  • Fun before polishWe test the mechanic in a rough prototype first, so you do not pay for art on an idea that does not hold attention.
  • Honest economy designWe balance revenue against retention and avoid dark patterns that damage reviews and invite store policy trouble.
  • Built for real devicesPerformance budgets for frame rate, memory and battery are set per device tier and checked on hardware every sprint.
  • One team after launchThe engineers who built the game run the live ops, so events and fixes ship without a handover gap.
How we work

How a mobile game moves from idea to live title

One team from first call to launch, with demos at every milestone.

01

Kickoff and game concept

We start with a free chat about genre, audience, reference games and budget. We then write a short concept document covering the core loop, target session length and monetization model.

02

Prototype and playtest

We build a playable graybox in Unity or Unreal and put it in front of real players. Their behavior decides what we keep, cut or change before full production.

03

Art, audio and production

Art direction, UI, animation, sound and level content are produced in sprints with a new playable build at the end of each sprint. You play each build on your own phone through TestFlight and Google Play internal testing.

04

Soft launch and tuning

We can release in a limited set of countries to measure retention, session length and conversion before a full launch. Economy values and difficulty are tuned through remote config based on that data.

05

Launch and live operations

We submit to the App Store and Google Play, handle review questions and monitor crashes in the first days. After launch we run events, content drops and updates under an ongoing support plan.

Pricing

What mobile game development costs

Game budgets are driven mostly by content volume and fidelity. A 2D puzzle game with one mechanic and a few dozen levels is a very different job from a 3D title with characters, animation and many hours of content. Art and animation often take a larger share of the budget than code.

Multiplayer, live ops tooling and a custom backend are the next biggest cost drivers. Real-time multiplayer needs servers, matchmaking and anti cheat work, while a single player game with cloud save and leaderboards can lean on Game Center and Google Play Games Services. We also budget time for device testing across older Android hardware, which is where many games break.

Mobile apps at SIZ Group start at $4,500, and small casual games can begin near that range. Most games cost more because of art and content, so we confirm a fixed scope and price in writing after a free scoping call where we review your concept and reference titles.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still curious? Call +1 254 323 2698 or write to info@sizgroup.com.

Should my game use Unity or Unreal Engine?+

Unity is the usual choice for 2D, casual and mid core mobile games because it has a large asset ecosystem and runs well on a wide range of phones. Unreal suits high fidelity 3D where visual quality is the main selling point, but it asks more of the device and the team. We recommend an engine after we see your art references and target devices.

What do Apple and Google require for in-game purchases?+

Digital items such as currency, extra lives, skins and level packs must be sold through Apple In-App Purchase and Google Play Billing. Both stores also require games with loot boxes or other randomized paid items to disclose the odds of each item before purchase. We build these rules into the store and offer screens from the start.

Can a game app development company help after launch?+

Yes. As a game app development company we treat launch as the start of the work, not the end. Our support plans cover crash fixes, OS updates, new levels, seasonal events and economy tuning based on player data.

Do you make games for children?+

We do, with care. Games aimed at children in the US must follow COPPA, and both the Apple Kids category and the Google Play Families program limit third party ads, analytics and data collection. That affects monetization, so we plan it at the concept stage.

Which monetization model is right for my game?+

Casual games with short sessions usually rely on rewarded and interstitial ads plus small purchases. Mid core games with deeper progression lean on in-app purchases and season passes, while some niche titles do well as a paid upfront download or a subscription. We model each option against your expected audience before choosing.

Who owns the game code and assets?+

You do. Source code, project files, art and audio created for your game are handed over to you, along with access to the store accounts, which should be registered in your company name. Any third party assets or plugins we license are listed so you know their terms.
